Winemaker Notes
2019 is a textbook Napa vintage that has the stuffing for long-term aging but the concentrated fruit to drink early. Mother Nature provided an even growing season that has manifested miraculously rich fruit that we’re sure you will enjoy for years to come. We harvested on October 24th, hand-selecting bunches from a single block within the vineyard. The fruit went through hand-sorting twice, ensuring only the best grapes made it to tank. We cold soaked the grapes for a few days to develop color, flavor, and aroma before starting to ferment. The new wine was gently punched down and pumped over for 17 days for further extraction of color, aroma, and flavor. The wine was then transferred to small French oak barrels of which 55% were new, for malolactic fermentation and 19 months of aging.
